Cathy and I share a deep love for dogs. I’ve always found them to be more than just pets—they’re loyal friends who bring so much joy and companionship. For nine wonderful years, I had a Fox Terrier named Lola, who meant the world to me. When she passed away in 2023, it left a huge void in my life. To me, dogs are our closest companions, always there when we need them. Unlike people, there’s no need to make plans—they’re just there, offering strength, a reason to step outside, or even just to be a little annoying (in the best way possible).
After a year and a half, I decided it was time to welcome another furry friend into my life. On December 1st, Julião came home. He’s a four-month-old Fox Terrier, and he’s already proven to be a bundle of energy and personality. Fox Terriers are known for being lively and a bit stubborn, so I’m gearing up for some challenging, but rewarding, months ahead.
His first trip was a pleasant surprise—he slept through the entire journey without a single yelp. That said, as a typical puppy, he has bursts of energy where he wants to chew absolutely everything in his path, including my wrists and ankles! Luckily, sleeping at night has been easy. He’s already gotten used to sleeping in his little bed next to mine. This is a big accomplishment for someone like me, who used to let dogs take over the sofa and the bed.
Now comes the hardest part: potty training. Teaching him that the bathroom is outside the apartment will take time and patience. I’m bracing myself for at least three months of effort and lots of daily walks. On the bright side, it’s a great way to stay active!
Meet Julião, my new four-month-old Fox Terrier. I’m sure he’ll grow up to be a very good boy. Stay tuned for more stories about our adventures together
